I don’t know what it was like for everyone else who grew up in the 80′s and 90′s, but being a Michael Jackson fan was pretty tough for me.

In my group of friends and among the people I knew, being an advocate for Michael meant you had to be a strong fan regardless of all the drama and intrigue that surrounded his life.

Thriller jacket?  Nope.  Listen to the latest Bad album?  Only in the safety of my own home.  Wanted to learn the dance moves?  Had to watch and practice YouTube videos in secrecy.

Sure people like Chris Tucker could do entire Michael Jackson dance sets on the set of Rush Hour 3.  But that was Chris Tucker, and I am me.  I couldn’t even do the entire Thriller segment.

But over the past decade, there has been a noticeable change and attitude regarding Michael Jackson in that he is now known simply as an amazing artist who made amazing music.  (In fact, I found out that even my 8 year-old nephew is rocking the fedora and sequined glove.  Pretty amazing.)

Now, with Michael Jackson: The Experience, not only can I enjoy the music, but I can also learn the dance moves that made Michael Jackson so famous. 

Paired with the amazing Kinect technology (dude, no controller!) on the X Box 360, you can see yourself in awesome, glowing glory on the big screen, singing and dancing to songs from Michael Jackson’s entire playlist of albums.

My favorite is anything from Off The Wall.  So good.

But despite the general public accepting Michael Jackson’s life, music and legacy, it doesn’t mean your neighbor is accepting of you dancing and singing half naked in your living room.  They still might call the cops on you.

So if you haven’t gotten the game yet, run out to the closest store and get yourself a copy of Michael Jackson: The Experience.  You can start practicing those dance moves you’ve always wanted to learn since eighth grade. 

Who knows? Once you’ve learned aforementioned dance moves, you might impress some ladies on the dance floor when the DJ busts out Beat It at the club.

After watching Tron, let's try to get the high score on Ms. Pac-Man!

Waaaay back in ancient history, 1982 to be precise, before everyone had an iPhone or a gaming system, yes, even before facebook, there was a movie made named Tron.  Oh, you’ve heard of it?  It was a great science fiction movie based on the premise that there was some kind of an almost human power struggle inside your computer.

Beyond the killer storyline, it was a real game changer in the use of computer graphics.  They were definitely onto something with this one.  The visual stylings of director Steven Lisberger were cutting edge, dark, contrasty, and supercool. Here’s a little blast from the past for you.

I’m sure you’ve heard, but in case you haven’t, 2010 will bring us a new Tron. And from the looks of the trailer, this one is going to be pretty dang sleek. I for one am psyched to see how this classic is reworked.

Is that a new PS3?!?!?!

It recently dawned on me that in today’s day and age – we’ve got a console for every stage of a man’s life… You start out with a Wii at age 7 and graduate to an Xbox when you hit 13 and stick to it until you’re 18… then you move out of the basement and get your own man-pad and the choice becomes obvious: the PS3.

Not to hate on any Xbox-fans out there but I just don’t see how it could possibly even come close to holding a candle to a PS3 in any category… hardware, style, features, and bang for the buck.

2. Free online play – no need to ask mom to spot you for your monthly Xbox Live subscription because you blew your last $10 on a crappy pizza last Saturday.

It just looks so real!

The beauty of media is that is transplants you from your realty and puts you into the book, movie, or in this case, the video game. HALO has been the main reason the xBox did not fail as a video game platform. It was the reason people purchased the game system. Halo spawned Halo 2, Halo 3, and now the newest and best sequel, Halo 3: ODST.

With Halo 3: ODST, you are The Rookie and you’re dropped into the middle of New Mombasa while the enemy tries to take control of the planet, Planet Earth. In a botched drop, your team is spread all around New Mombasa. Your goal is to find your team and save the planet.

Unlike other versions of the Halo franchise, the key to this game is stealth. You must maneuver through the city, avoiding or eliminating the enemy. Throughout the game, you will be transplanted to the other members of your drop team and run missions as that team member.

Finally, Microsoft likes to spend money on HALO commercials. This is one of their best.

Looking to kill some time? I find that the key to a good video game is the ability to pick it up, play, and leave on a dime. If you have to get deeply involved in some long quest…it gets boring.

With that in mind, I would like to recommend an awesome time-killer. It’s called Shadow Complex and it is available on the xBox Live Arcade section of your xBox 360. This game has it all: save the girl, save America, guns, rockets, jet shoes, sneak attacks, helicopters, and a killer robot that’s right out of RoboCop. The most important part, you pick up the sticks (joystick for you newbies) play for a few minutes while you wait for your lady friend to arrive (or get dressed) and then just walk away.

You’re an Essential Man of Style, you don’t need to spend hours in bed playing video games.
