For today’s installment of YOUR WEEKLY FIX: Style advice from a beautiful woman, we have former lawyer, blogger and New York resident Bo Mulder.
Bo Mulder moved from Amsterdam to New York over a year ago.
According to Bo, “Although this was a huge step, it was an easy decision to make. My boyfriend got the opportunity to work in the Big Apple and I followed him without hesitation. Although my career as a lawyer was quite done with crossing the ocean, it gave me the opportunity to explore and expand what I really love doing. As a result I started my fashion blog: Sea of Bees NYC.”
She continues, “Launching my website was a big step for me. Not only is it kind of your own company, a personal blog implies putting yourself out there. Plus, one of my (sometimes good, sometimes exhausting) characteristics is always wanting to win. This desire to be successful doesn’t really make things easy for me in the blogger world. This is one harsh business and there is no guarantee for success.”
Fortunately for Bo, she persevered, followed her own style and creativity, and Sea of Bees NYC has become a big success while continuing to grow every day.
Here’s her style advice for our readers:
First of all to all men: be groomed!
Weather you’re wearing a big sloppy stained overall, as long as you’re hands, hair and skin are decent: you are decent.
Hands are especially very important, gentlemen! I mean, women will always check out your hands. And if they’re not taken care of, you’re definitely out.
You don’t have to transform into a metro-man, just spend some time taking care of yourself.
Also, a lot of men forget cologne. Not too much (never overdo anything), but a hint of a good eau de cologne is the finishing touch of every good look.
Other advice: skip all items with visible, printed (and huge) big brand names. If you have items like these, throw them away and invest in good shirts.
My favorite brand for men’s shirts is Boggi. The cut and its small details are perfect. My boyfriend has a lot of Boggi shirts and I tend to “borrow” them on a regular basis.
I think a Boggi shirt, jeans, white sneakers and a leather jacket is the best look for not only my man, but for every man!
Super sexy, though not too imposed.
Finally, my last style advice is to never try too hard. Do not be the over styled man; just be inspired by styles you like and interpret them in your own way.
