Classic quote from the following morning: “For some reason, whenever I drink martinis, Patron shots and beer things just get crazy.”
Here at ESM, we like to name these crazy drink combinations. Previously we featured the “Chuck Norris/Walker Texas Ranger,” which was an evening of Patron, beer and scotch.
For this week, we are going to feature the “Dean Martin”.
The drink combination for the Dean Martin is:
- Martini
- Tequila shots (only top shelf, of course)
- Either scotch (preferred) or beer (if you’re in a pinch)
Why did we call it a Dean Martin? Simple – we figured that is how he partied back in the day.
The last time I personally did a Dean Martin, I ended up smoking a cigarette (I don’t smoke), sitting on a sidewalk around the corner from the bar we were at (I couldn’t get up) and someone needed to carry me to the car.
Fortunately, I was mindful enough to close out my tab before I wandered off into never-never land.
Is there an order in which we take these drinks? Not really. Is there a typical amount of each drink we have in one evening? It depends on one’s alcohol tolerance, but I personally just do one martini and “pace” with the other drinks.
But hey, we’re not experts and you should never take any advice from guys who actually name drink combinations as crazy as the Dean Martin, except for this: always make sure you always have a designated driver whenever you party.
