FOOD & DINING: Morton’s cajun ribeye and Ultimat dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives

Can't beat this for a meal. Morton's Steakhouse never fails to amaze.
Ever eat at Morton’s?
If you’ve done your tour of steakhouses in your lifetime, you know Morton’s is an old school steak joint that only serves the best quality steaks, seafood, service and drinks.
Last Sunday, a few cohorts and I had a chance to eat at their Anaheim location to partake of the best they had to offer.
What I like most about going to familiar places with new people? They give you an opportunity to try things you would have never tried before.
For this most recent trip, there were two particular items on the menu I was introduced to:
- The cajun ribeye
- The Ultimat dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives
As all our old readers know, we love drinking martinis. In our humble opinion, the best martinis:
- Are ice cold
- Have tiny little pieces of ice floating on the top of your drink
- Are best sipped after taking a bite of an olive
- Are made with the best vodka
After trying the Ultimat martini with blue cheese stuffed olives in Morton’s, my best martini experience was transformed from a “ten” to a “one hundred and eleven”.
The drink was ice cold. The blue cheese stuffed olives were salty and tasty. The vodka was ever-so-smooth.
Maybe that’s why me and the boys were pounding them like they were going out of style.

So I was drinking so much I didn't have the mental acuity to take a picture for this article. Image from http://world-of-mouths.blogspot.com/2011/03/mortons-glory-hours.html.
On the other hand, the cajun ribeye was a pleasant surprise.
Historically, I typically order plain-jane steaks. I believe that the best steaks should just be prepared medium well with salt and pepper.
Simple and elegant.
For this particular evening, however, I was willing to take the advice of our waiter who simply stated “the cajun ribeye was his favorite on the menu.”
Quite a bold statement, considering the plethora of fantastic options available to someone who can eat anything on the menu on a regular basis. So myself and 3 others in our party ordered the cajun ribeye steak.
I have to say, it was magnificent.
The preparation was delicious because the cajun flavoring didn’t overwhelm the natural flavoring of the steak. The spices gave it just enough kick to make it different from your regular high-end steak dinner. The overall taste still retained the classical flavors of their traditional dishes.
Yes – it was hot, new and OG all at the same time.
All-in-all I was pleasantly surprised to find two such amazing items at a place I have already gotten so familiar with.
So the next time you find yourself at Morton’s, you should definitely try the cajun ribeye and the Ultimat dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. You won’t regret it.
