Top 5 Places in London That Won’t Give You Food Poisoning

London gets a bad rap for being known to have the worst food on the planet.

Being a Londoner (did I just call myself a “Londoner”) for two years now, I’m here to tell you this myth is not true.

Well…not fully.

Although I’ve gotten food poisoning once and my fiancee has gotten it twice, there are hard and fast rules to eating out in London town.

But instead of bashing London for its dodgy food practices, I’m here to guide you to places that serve some of the best food I’ve ever eaten (no, really).

#5 – Savannah Jerk (Central London)
I’d like to preface this entry with “I am not an alcoholic”.

Now that we have that out of the way, I’m gonna be honest by saying this Jamaican dining experience made the list due to its awesome rum punch.

Don’t get me wrong, they do a great Jamaican breakfast but yea, whatever…order the rum punch and you’ll be making friends with everyone you encounter on the way back to the tube station (see: subway).

#4 – Ukai (Central London)
I like sushi. This place has the best prawn tempura ever. Period. End of story.

The secret is in their sauce and seasoning itself on the shrimp. Their sushi doesn’t fall short of awesome either but make no mistake, the prawn tempura is where its at.

#3 – The Alice House (West Hampstead)
Do you like steak? Of course. Do you like sandwiches? I know, who doesn’t.

Put those two together and you get the best steak sandwich in London.

They put garlic aioli (see: crack) on it too. Can it get any better? Yes. Served with hand cut chips. #Winning.

There is a downside though…the Alice House might be the worst service experience I’ve ever endured (I’ll save that story for another day) but that incredible sandwich is worth the shi**y service.

p.s. Order your steak medium. Trust me.

#2 – Sushi-Say (Willesden Green)
Did I mention I like sushi?

Sushi-Say wins hands down when it comes to the freshness of their fish. Not only freshness, but the quality and cut of their sashimi (see: raw fish served by itself) is the thickness of mini steaks.

You like steak right?

#1 - Babylon at the Roof Gardens (Kensington)
Hands down the best restaurant I’ve eaten at in London.

It’s set on a rooftop in Kensington (think Beverly Hills) overlooking the city and owned by Richard Branson (Mr. Virgin himself).

That being said, everything on the menu is awesome but go for the filet of beef (you do like steak right?). One of the best cuts of steak I’ve not only had in London….but in life.

Dinner will end up setting you back the equivalent of in-state tuition by the end of the night but all in all its worth it.

Hopefully you’ve made it this far and have enjoyed this essential guide to eating out in London.

Remember, London isn’t the type of place to gamble with unknown restaurant territory so the least you can do is take heed. You’ve been warned.

Disclaimer: Due to sever damage of my middle ear canal from listening to Rebecca Black’s Friday at loud levels, I have lost all major nerves that lead to my taste buds thus affecting my judgement in food….and more importantly, this list. Use at your own risk.
