“Please don’t make me angry.  You won’t like me when I am angry.”

This line may be true for The Hulk, but when it comes to the Gumpert Apollo, nothing could be as far from the opposite.

Our message to the folks at Gumpert: “Get angry more often.

Introduced in this year's Geneva Motor Show, this car makes a barely street legal car, even more barely street legal. That doesn't even make any sense. And we love it. Image from http://www.autoblog.com/2012/03/06/gumpert-apollo-r-enraged-geneva-2012/.

Introducing the Gumpert Apollo “Enraged”, a special edition car they released at the Geneva Motor Show that has been described as “barely street legal.” (What does that even mean?)

In any case, according to an article on autoblog.com:

What you’re looking at above is called the Apollo Enraged, which Gumpert calls the most powerful street-legal car ever to leave its factory. Limited to just three examples, the Apollo Enraged ups the output from its Audi-sourced supercharged 4.2-liter V8 to 780 horsepower and trims weight down to 1,175 kg. Further details are scarce, but the vehicle looks positively scary.

In Gumpert’s official media release on their website:

Apollo Enraged is the name of the special limited edition, limited to a number of three cars worldwide. “Ok, so perhaps it is a bit crazy to take the most extreme, barely still street legal vehicle and make it even more extreme,” says Roland Gumpert about the limited special edition Enraged – the unleashed and furious apollo.

With its 780 hp strong engine and a dry weight of just 1,175 kg it ensures a brutal feed rate. To curb the tremendous performance a braking system is fitted with internally ventilated 396 mm ceramic brake disks. Pretty clear, both the Enraged as well as the Apollo R reflect with absolute consistency our philosophy and our understanding of PURE GERMAN SPEED.

I think we should rename it the Gumpert Apollo “Pee in my pants because we almost got into an accident on the freeway“.

If you saw the Gumpert Apollo Enraged in a dark alley, would you run? Image from http://www.autoblog.com/2012/03/06/gumpert-apollo-r-enraged-geneva-2012/.
