Before we start in on this article, did anyone catch that video where the McLaren 720S smokes the Lamborghini Aventador SV?

Well here it is and the magic starts at the 4:22 mark:

Now with that fresh image in your mind, let’s talk about the 720S – it’s a part of McLaren’s Super Series and replaced the 650S earlier this year.

As far as performance, “The McLaren 720S can go from 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds (0.1 seconds faster than the 650S and matches the time of the 675LT), and 0-124 mph in 7.8 seconds (0.6 seconds faster than the 650S, 0.1 seconds faster than the 675LT). The top speed is 220mph (360 km/h), and the car will complete the 1/4 mile in 10.3 seconds.”

Speed and performance improvements are all par for the course with the McLaren brand, but the real feedback from car guys when the 720S was first released?

They didn’t like the way it looked.

Which is totally understandable given the fact the headlights look like this dude from Masters of the Universe:

Don’t tell us you didn’t think of the same thing when you first saw the McLaren 720S.

For the record, we actually immediately liked the new design of the Mac when it came out, but at the same time, we were also big fans of He-Man when we were kids (there must be some connection there).

  • Size: 20”x9.5” // 21”x12.5”
  • Finish: Frozen Brushed Gold
  • Tires: Pirelli P Zero
  • Front: 245/30/20
