So the concept of the “Monoboc” or “Monoblock” or 1 piece wheels have been around for a long time.  Actually, they’ve been around longer than the 3 piece wheel you see most folks have on their cars now.  If you don’t believe me, just take a step outside and check out the stock wheels on your car – those are built as one piece wheels.  Hence, the term “Monoblock”.

To make things a little more confusing, sometimes monoblock style wheels aren’t even made of one piece.  It’s starting to mean wheels that don’t have a lip.  It’s kind of a renaissance right now in wheel design, because everyone is getting sick of the old school deep dish designed wheel.

And for me?  I love it.  It makes the wheels look big and the cars look classy.  They look especially good on the European cars with a positive offset (basically cars where you can’t put a very deep dish wheel, like Audis).

So next time you are going to get shoes for your ride, please make sure to check out these new style of wheels.  You’ll definitely set yourself apart from everyone else.
