FASHION ESSENTIALS: The Pocket Square

Add that little detail. The pocket square.

Add that little detail. The pocket square.

I love pocket squares.  For $10, you can add that small detail to your suit or sports jacket that will separate you from everyone else.

I was reading an article on Esquire.com suggesting that the pocket square isn’t cool anymore because the show Mad Men has made the pocket square commonplace.  I politely disagree.  Throw that pocket square in there.  Once you get used to wearing them, change it with some subtle colors and patterns.

What I am not a big fan of – is folding the pocket square in a weird ass way.  My preference is to have the pocket square be, well, a square shape and sticking out of your coat pocket by about 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch.  If your pocket square is made of a silk material, fold it in half and just shove that bad boy in the pocket.  Don’t make it look like you tried too hard to make it happen.
