The Deus Ex-Machina Venice Address shirt. Gotta represent our local branch!

Today on ESM, we’re going to talk about the most basic style moves you can make – wearing a t-shirt.

Most guys can wear any t-shirt, but we’d recommend wearing one which tells the world more about you and what you represent.

For us here at ESM, even though we love the fine cut of a well-tailored suit and a high-end exotic, most of the time we’re riding motorcycles, surfing and loving the beach lifestyle.

And the brand we want to rock representing the moto-surf-beach set?  Deus Ex-machina.

I mean, even the name is fucking cool.

It translates to “god from the machine” and is defined as “a plot device whereby a seemingly unsolvable problem is suddenly and abruptly resolved by the inspired and unexpected intervention of some new event, character, ability or object. Its function can be to resolve an otherwise irresolvable plot situation, to surprise the audience, to bring the tale to a happy ending, or act as a comedic device.”

During the times of the Greek tragedy, the term literally referred to a crane-like machine which would lower an actor playing a god to resolve a conflict in the play or drama.

So, how does this translate modern times?

If we were to make a guess: motorcycles and surfboards are the mechanisms wherein unresolved conflicts in our life become… resolved.

For anyone who rides and anyone who surfs, we somehow find this to always be true – and the Deus Ex-Machina t-shirt is just a reflection of this resolved conflict in our lives.

Plus it looks fucking cool.
