What the hell are Dutch people doing in their free time? Obviously something pretty amazing, when you see the likes of the Spyker line of cars.
Started in 1880 by coachbuilders Jacobus and Hendrik-Jan Spijker, they started off by building carriages (one is still being used by the queen today) and eventually went into cars in 1900. They went bankrupt twice, and re-emerged in 1999 as a brand new company that bought the rights to the original brand and produces the killer cars seen today. (See more in their Wikipedia entry.)
The Spyker C8 Spyder is one of the first cars manufactured by the modern incarnation of the company and it uses an Audi 4.2 litre V8 engine that gives the car a top speed of 186 mph.
If you’ve ever seen one in person, you will be thoroughly impressed with the craftsmanship and time put into each vehicle, from the exposed gear shift to the stainless steel dashboard.
