It’s time to run away to the circus again.
And by “run away” I mean fly and by “to the circus” I mean going to Las Vegas, renting a room at a nice hotel and buying tickets to Love, by Cirque du Soleil.
If you’re a big Cirque du Soleil fan or have seen a few of their shows, from the moment you walk into the theater for Love, you notice a big difference from everything else they have produced – the show is fun. Everyone is wearing bright colored, happy costumes as they usher you in. It’s not a typical artsy, semi-dreary, French Canadian, ambiguous storyline, people with scary costumes show. It’s a show that timelines British culture throughout all of The Beatles’ music from when they first started to when they broke up.
The show itself is a visual feast for the eyes. Bright colors everywhere, a stage with 360 degree seating to see the action from all angles, multiple sources of action and great music make it an incredible sensory experience.
You can also tell that Love is a culmination of all the years Cirque du Soleil has been in Vegas. They use a very unique and technically amazing stage, they use the latest in modern technology and they also incorporate things such as capoera, breakdancing and rollerblading.
I’m not sure how many times I had to shake my head in amazement.
One piece of advice though – don’t go if you get seizures, dropped acid or just tried any hallucinogenics. You will trip balls and want to get out of there as quickly as possible because it will be too much for your brains to handle. It was crazy enough to do it sober, much less with other “things” affecting your perception of reality.
Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
