Rap. Rock. Two genres of music that seem to have been destined for each other. Run D.M.C. and Aerosmith opened the doors with “Walk This Way” in an epic fashion. Since then there have been some sick collaborations from Public Enemy and Anthrax doing “Bring the Noise” to Jay-Z and Linkin Park teaming for “Numb/Encore”. Taking the best elements of each, a new rap/rock genre was born, giving us Kid Rock and Limp Bizkit and blurring the lines just enough for sonic symbiosis.
On November 27, 2009, a new brand of dope will be unleashed on the music world. We start with the Ohio based Black Keys who have channeled the greats of psychedelic rock and injected their own style to resurrect a genuine sound. Next, add the varied rap stylings of Ludacris, Mos Def, Billy Danze, and Jim Jones to the mix. Sprinkle in some Q-Tip, some members of the Wu Tang Clan, and the vocal ability of Nicole Wray and now we’re cooking. Simmer all of these ingredients and the result is an audio gumbo that will make a mark on today’s musical landscape. Mm, mm. Get yourself some.
