If you find yourself in the middle of the Indian Ocean, on an atoll that you can walk across in about 15 seconds and walk the length in less than 5 minutes, you just may be in the Maldives.  After landing in the capital city of Male, you will either take a speedboat or a puddle jumper to get to your island resort.

The Shangri La, Banyan Tree, and Angsana resorts are just a few of the names that offer outrageous accomodations in this paradise.  If you are there for the diving, then you have obviously done your research.  The Maldives boasts some of the World’s best and yet unknown spots.  The reefs are amazing, and the abundance of marine life is staggering.

For the experienced and diving devoted, there are liveaboard boats.  If you’ve got deep enough pockets, and want an extraordinary experience, the Kuredu Resorts and The Four Seasons offer high end liveaboards that take luxury to another level.

Many of the local resorts also boast surf masters to give you a hand finding some of the local surf breaks in case you’ve seen enough whale sharks for one day.  Then again, you might just find yourself watching the parrot fish through the glass panels in the floor at the spa while getting a massage.  Rough life!
